The Gymnastic Federation of India (GFI) pioneer of Gymnastic in India came in existence in the year 1951 with the main aims to encourages, promotes, control, and popularizes the competitive Gymnastic in the Union of India. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) granted its affiliation to the Federation in the year of 1952. India, being the second most populated and the 7th Largest Country of the world, the Gymnastic Federation of India is an important Unit of the Federation of International gymnastic (FIG), Commonwealth Gymnastic Confederation (CGC) and Asian Gymnastic Union (AGU). The Federation was registered with the Registrar of Societies Delhi under Societies Registration Act, 1957 in the year 1966.
The Gymnastics Federation of India has become activity association with the Olympic Movement and has started participant in the Olympic Games, the Commonwealth Games, and the Asian Games and in the recognized International Championship/Cup/Competition in gymnastics. The Gymnastics Federation of India is an affiliated Unit of the FIG since 1952; GFI is the Founder Member of the CGC and AGU since its inception.
