The 13 member Indian Gymnastics contingent participated at the FIG World Cup Gymnastics tournament at Ghent – Belgium during 3-4 September 2011. 35 countries from all over the world including gymnastics majors like China, Germany, Russia, etc. participated in the tournament.
The Indian performance was respectable. Dipa Karmakar stood 11th on Table Vault, marginally short to enter the Best 8 Finals. The Men’s team was also able to secure impressive ranks. The best performance from the Men’s Section came from Alok Ranjan who secured 15th Rank on Pommel Horse while Ashish Kumar stood 21st on Floor Exercise. The young gymnast Rakesh Patra did well on Rings to stand 24th in the Ranking.
